Lending a helping hand to our St. Pete Beach, St. Petersburg + Tampa Bay neighbors
At TradeWinds Island Resorts, we specialize in making people feel at home. That’s why we’re committed to helping those around us who could use a hand making their home in our community. Here are some of our many community involvement programs:
Reel Dream Makers
In 2012, TradeWinds became the backdrop for the TV series Reel Dream Makers, a show about helping nonprofit organizations achieve their mission and goals. With the support of celebrities, a chosen family in need is given a chance to “Just Let Go.” Whether it’s a recent tragedy, an illness or a life-changing circumstance, TradeWinds gives the family a beach vacation with fishing adventures and surprises around every turn.
Fishing for Hearts
Since 2010, TradeWinds has been hosting the Fishing for Hearts fishing tournament. Fishing for Hearts supports Ronald McDonald House Charities® Tampa Bay and Athletes for Hearts, a program created to provide financial assistance to families with children in need of medical treatment specific to a heart condition.
Tampa Bay Watch, Inc.
Tampa Bay Watch is a program dedicated to the protection and restoration of the marine and wetland environments of Tampa Bay. TradeWinds’ employees are given the opportunity to volunteer their time to help rebuild oyster shell reefs similar to natural oyster communities found along the shoreline of Tampa Bay.
TradeWinds Eco Team
Founded by two eco-minded employees of TradeWinds Island Resorts, the Eco Team's mission is to raise awareness about the effects of the "human footprint." The team holds monthly meetings with guest speakers from local organizations such as Tampa Bay Watch, Sea Turtle Trackers and Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The Eco Team participates in monthly beach cleanups, inviting local residents and guests to join in, plus adopt Sea Turtle nests every year. Follow @TWEcoTeam
Academy Prep Centers for Education
Over the years, TradeWinds has developed a special relationship with the Academy Prep Center of St Petersburg, a private middle school program for fifth- through eighth-grade students, designed specifically to give children of low-income families the best education possible. Many of our employees even choose to give a portion of every paycheck to the academy.
This program teaches eighth graders in Pinellas County all about personal finance and budgeting. TradeWinds sponsors a booth at Finance Park to help students understand the entertainment budget category.
We constantly look for new opportunities to become involved in the lives of those around us. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss a way in which we can help your charitable organization.
