Inshore Fishing

FLORIDA INSHORE FISHING CHARTERS

Plan your trip with the help of Guy Harvey Outfitters

location:

Bay Area Fishing Spots

Tampa Bay is world renowned for some of the best light tackle inshore fishing. This region includes the pristine flats of the various bays making up the greater Tampa Bay, along with deep channel cuts leading into the Port of Tampa. Tarpon, the “Silver King,” are plentiful in Tampa Bay. They often weigh more than 100 pounds with some occasionally topping 200 pounds – a real thrill on light pound test line. The Tampa area is also famous for spearfishing. An abundance of large game fish, such as cobia, snapper, kingfish, bonito, mackerel and grouper, can be found in the Gulf waters.

Clearwater Fishing Spots

The Intracoastal waters of Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tarpon Springs add to your potential catch of redfish, snook, grouper, pompano, sheepshead, spotted seatrout and Spanish mackerel. A few fights with a jack, ladyfish or gafftopsail catfish will keep the day lively while the mild climate provides for favorable fishing conditions year-round.

Know Before You Go:

We take fishing regulations seriously because we’re committed to conservation. It's important to know and respect the local fishing regulations to help protect and sustain the fisheries. At best, it’s good sportsmanship. At worst, being unfamiliar is a prescription for fines and penalties. We must all do our small part in protecting the fisheries for future generations to come. Please learn more about Florida fishing regulations and how to acquire your fishing license.

FLORIDA INSHORE FISHING FAQS

How long will we be fishing?

Half-day trips are four or six hours and full-day trips are eight hours.

Does Guy Harvey Outpost work with a preferred inshore captain?

Yes, please meet Captain Mike Anderson. Born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on June 9, 1968, Captain Mike was introduced to fishing at a very young age. Reared in a family of fishing enthusiasts, Mike joined his father and uncle on a regular basis throughout his childhood, as they would cast for walleye, muskie and perch.

Captain Mike has been fishing the Tampa Bay area since 1990. In early 2000, Captain Mike began Thunderbay Charters Service and is currently fishing approximately 150+ days a year. Captain Mike is a professional tournament fisherman, and competes on the Ranger/Mercury Redfish Tour and Southern Redfish Trail. Captain Mike is also a contributor to a number of charitable organizations, including Boys & Girls Club of Tampa, Children's Miracle Network and the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

For several years, Captain Mike and Captain Billy Nobles could be found on 620 AM’s “Sports Animal’s Fishing Show” on Sunday mornings sharing fishing stories and providing tips. After a three-year stint at another station, the Animals returned to WDAE in September of 2009 where they can now be heard from 7-9 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
