Reeling in Freshness at RumFish Grill
Hungry for an aquatic adventure packed with tons of taste? You won’t have to look far thanks to RumFish Grill, a creative new concept being offered at the TradeWinds Island Resorts on St. Pete Beach. Culinary greatness, a commitment to educating guests about the environment and a water-infused interactive experience all intersect in this artfully designed space. It starts with a ginormous aquarium populated with more than 200 fish, representing more than 20 species, swimming alongside guests as they dine on a menu stacked with the freshest seafood around. Then comes the chance to snorkel in this massive, 33,500-gallon tank, with all these fish. Ready to take the plunge? We hope so.
Serving lunch and dinner, RumFish Grill has already gained a big national following thanks to two big reality show stars and a popular series called “Tanked.” Soon after the restaurant opened, it took center stage on the show, and since then, phones have been ringing off the hook for reservations.
A feast for the eyes and taste buds awaits guests as they scan the illuminated menus and gaze at the magnificent aquarium that’s become the centerpiece of this restaurant. The tank, created by the dynamic duo of Wayde King and Brett Raymer, stars of the hit TV show “Tanked” and co-owners of Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM), helps reel in a gaggle of guests to the eatery. What keeps them coming back is the food, live music seven nights a week, and the mix of specialty cocktails like the key lime pie martini.
According to Executive Chef Justin Harry, it’s a creative mix of island-inspired flavors that takes the food to another level. “Our staff went down to Bimini before we opened the restaurant to capture a lot of different flavors,” he said. “Creole, South America and West Indies infused cuisine with cutting-edge, bold flavors.” RumFish Cioppino, Sautéed Florida Clams, Wood Grilled Yellowfin Tuna and Firecracker Shrimp are just a few of the mouthwatering delights to try.
