Know Before You Go:
We take fishing regulations seriously because we’re committed to conservation. It's important to know and respect the local fishing regulations to help protect and sustain the fisheries. At best, it’s good sportsmanship. At worst, being unfamiliar is a prescription for fines and penalties. We must all do our small part in protecting the fisheries for future generations to come. FLORIDA FLY FISHING FAQS
Does Guy Harvey Outpost work with a preferred Florida fly fishing captain?
Yes! Guy Harvey Outpost proudly works with Capt. C.A. Richardson, who has lived and fished in Tampa Bay for more than 40 years. Here in the Bay area, he has honed his fly and light tackle angling skills on the beaches and inshore flats of his home waters. He’s also a seasoned professional angler who has competed from North Carolina, all away around the Gulf coast, to South Texas in the ESPN Redfish Cup, Professional Tarpon Tournament Series, and the FLW Redfish Series.
In 2001, he started his popular “Flats Class” inshore fishing school to complement his emerging Flats Class Charter business. This popular inshore fishing school still travels around the Southeast educating anglers today through C.A.’s unique power-point presentation and varied experience as a long-time guide and former competitive touring angler.
A few years later in 2007, Flats Class TV debuted on the national outdoor networks scene with the help of Forrest Fox Productions and accomplished camera professional Dan Larson. Flats Class TV was an instant hit with anglers eager to learn lessons from the pros and improve their angling skill! Since the unveiling of Flats Class TV six years ago, it has been nominated multiple times for “Best Saltwater TV Series” and has won two outdoor television industry awards.
In addition to being recognized as the consummate host of FCTV, C.A. has gained the reputation over the years as the “inshore guide and fishing coach” to hire when it comes to light tackle and Florida fly fishing techniques. In fact, he still spends over 200 days a year guiding clients to trophy fish and filming episodes of Flats Class TV! Capt. C.A. Richardson is proud to be a member of six national pro-staff teams and is a Hell’s Bay Boatworks-endorsed guide for west central Florida.
