Pool Relaxation

Play at TradeWinds Island Resorts sunny beach pools

With St. Pete Beach dubbed the “Sunset Capital of Florida” and nearby St. Petersburg holding the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive days of sunshine — 768 straight days — there’s no better place to hang by the pool than at TradeWinds Island Resorts. With seven separate heated swimming pools, many of these beach pools looking upon the Gulf Coast, there’s plenty of fun in the sun to be had.

When the sun drops below the horizon, it’s time to mellow out at the pool, grab a raft, jump in or sit poolside to watch a feature film on Island Grand’s inflatable big screen at the resort’s beachfront pool. Movies are shown nightly and the films are listed at the Adventure Center.

Who said St. Pete Beach was the Sunset Capital of Florida?

Former Governor Charlie Crist. He dubbed St. Pete Beach as the “Sunset Capital of Florida” in 2011, and to kick off the year, St. Pete Beach residents and visitors gathered at sunset to “ring in the New Year” with a bell. Now, the sunset bell is rung daily just as the Florida rays dip below the Gulf Coast.

“Our position on the planet, which provides some of the most beautiful sunsets, directly over the gulf, is really something worth celebrating daily,” says Renee Roos, owner and publisher of Paradise News magazine. So here’s to another year of unforgettable sunsets!
