THE BEST BEACH RESORTS NEAR TAMPA
St. Pete, the best among Florida family beaches
Year after year, TripAdvisor names St. Pete Beach among the Best Beaches in the U.S. This Florida favorite took the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in the 2012 and 2015 Travelers’ Choice Awards, respectively. In 2012, St. Pete Beach was the No. 5 beach destination in the world! Meanwhile, Parents magazine named St. Pete Beach No. 3 among “America's Top 10 Best Beach Towns for Families.” St. Pete Beach was chosen for the 2013 accolade thanks to its white sand, oceanfront activities, inland attractions and beach safety.
What could be more relaxing than sunning on a giant raft – big enough for four – while floating gently in the Gulf?
If you’re staying at TradeWinds Resorts, you get to enjoy a hooded cabana with cushions for two, right on St. Pete Beach. Each room can enjoy the use of a cabana as part of the value-packed resort amenity fee, and guests can rent additional cabanas (subject to availability). Our online cabana menu makes it easy to order food and refreshments right from the beach.
Also, once you’ve checked into your room, you can reserve your beach cabana online for the next day. Starting at 2 pm every day, you can select your standard view cabana. Front row cabanas may be reserved for $15 if available. Our Diamond and Platinum Paradise Rewards members get a complimentary front row cabana.
The SandBox’s VIP Beach Cabana scene takes lounging to the next level. These three Guy Harvey Outpost private cabanas offer cushioned furniture, flat screen TV, ceiling fan and your own personal server for the day.
There’s a new signature beach lounge at Guy Harvey Outpost, The SandBox beach lounge, available to guests at both resorts. Teenagers, kids and parents are all fans of gooey campfire s’mores around the firepit, and anyone who is a kid at heart will enjoy creating sandcastles in The SandPile surrounded by giant dolphin sculptures. Comfy lounge furniture with fire tables lend a cozy ambience next to the SandBar and dining options and live entertainment nightly complete this experience.
With more than 1,200 miles of sandy beaches in Florida, you’ve scored one of the best with your stay at TradeWinds Island Resorts. There are endless ways to create the perfect day at St. Pete’s award-winning beach, starting with a frosty libation at one of TradeWinds’ beachside bars followed by a nap in your very own dune hammock at Guy Harvey Outpost. Feel the sway of the ocean breeze as you escape in this serene corner of our two resorts.
Grab your friends and family and watch the Lightning on a big-screen TV right on the beach at one of our Lightning Watch Parties! There are always fun contests, ThunderBug sighting, Lightning girls and more! Beverages and all your cookout favorites will be available for purchase, including drink specials.
If you’re willing to venture 15 minutes away from TradeWinds Island Resorts, North Beach in Fort De Soto Park is another top pick among family beaches, and dog owners love the dog-friendly beach section. Coastal geologist Stephen Leatherman, a.k.a. Dr. Beach, named this Florida destination America’s No. 1 Beach out of more than 650 major recreational beaches across the country in 2005, using more than 50 factors. St. Pete Beach won the top honor, and in 2009, Caladesi Island State Park, a few miles north of TradeWinds, beat out beaches in Hawaii and California!
