Best Beach Town for Families
Parents magazine has named St. Pete Beach No. 3 of America's Top 10 Best Beach Towns for Families in 2013. "The destinations chosen deliver all the ingredients for a magical stay with the kids: pristine ocean water, nature activities, and a boatload of inland fun" states Parents magazine. St. Pete Beach was chosen as a family vacation hotspot for its white-sand beaches that offer a variety of oceanfront activities, commitment to beach safety and an assortment of inland attractions.
#1 Beach Destination in the U.S.
The beaches of St. Petersburg and Clearwater feature soft, white sand, tempting blue-green water and are consistently ranked among the finest in the nation. And millions of TripAdvisor vacationers throughout the world agree it's the best. St. Pete Beach has been ranked by TripAdvisor as the No. 1 beach destination in the United States - and the No. 5 ranking in the world - taking top votes in the 2012 Travelers' Choice Award.
Sunset Capital of Florida
In 2011, former Governor Charlie Crist officially deemed St. Pete Beach as the “Sunset Capital of Florida”. North Beach in Fort De Soto Park was named the Top Beach in America for 2008 and 2009 by TripAdvisor, while coastal geologist Stephen Leatherman, a.k.a. “Dr. Beach,” ranked it America’s No. 1 Beach out of more than 650 major recreational beaches across the country in 2005 using more than 50 criteria. In 2009, Caladesi Island State Park a few miles north of TradeWinds won that top honor, beating out beaches in Hawaii and California.

And to top it off St. Petersburg, Florida holds the Guinness world record for having the most consecutive days of sunshine - 768 days in a row!
